Porcelain Veneers in Burke: Transform Your Smile

Crooked Teeth

Before & After

What is the first thing you notice about your smile? Is there something you have always wanted to fix? Cosmetic problems can make you feel self-conscious but there are options available. Dental veneers is a simple procedure that can address a chipped tooth, discolored or yellow teeth, crooked teeth, or even gaps between teeth. A consultation with Dr. Ghorbani can determine if porcelain veneers are your solution to the smile you’ve always wanted.

Who is a good candidate for porcelain veneers?

Dental veneers are good option for resolving issues such as:

  • Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth
  • Discolored or yellow teeth
  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Obvious gaps between teeth

Patients with tooth decay, gum disease, thin enamel, or who grind their teeth may not be good candidates for porcelain veneers. Dr. Ghorbani can discuss during your consultation other options that may still be available to you.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Thin VeneersPorcelain veneers are extremely thin, highly-customizable ceramic coverings that are bonded to the front of your teeth in order to improve their appearance. They offer a much less invasive way to fix a multitude of cosmetic issues, and can enhance your smile both aesthetically and functionally. The high-quality ceramic material is able to faithfully replicate a natural tooth’s color, shape, size, and strength. It has a translucent quality just like your natural enamel, which will make the veneers blend seamlessly with the rest of your teeth. The ceramic is also non-porous, making it highly stain-resistant. It assures that you will have teeth that are both pleasing to look at and can be trusted day to day.

What Is the Procedure Like?

First Visit

Consultation

To start, Shield Dental Care will set up a consultation with Dr. Ghorbani to discuss your expectations and address any questions you may have. Dr. Ghorbani will perform a full exam of your teeth and gums to determine if porcelain veneers are the right solution for your smile. They only require that you have a minimal amount of healthy dental structure to support them, so most people are qualified candidates.

Tooth Preparation

If you both decide to proceed, he will start by buffing off a very small portion of your natural enamel, only about 2mm. This is about the thickness of a contact lens, and allows your teeth to have enough room for the veneers. He will then take an impression of your teeth and send it to a local dental lab to fabricate your veneers. Before you leave your visit, he will provide temporary veneers till your next visit.

Second Visit

Bonding

Once they are ready, your doctor will use a composite resin to firmly bond the veneers to your teeth. The resin provides a very secure hold and only takes a few minutes to completely harden.

After that, your new smile is ready to be shown to the world! Simple brushing and flossing can easily keep your veneers looking like new for years to come. No special care is needed but avoiding hard foods or using a mouthguard when necessary will keep your porcelain veneers in prestine condition.
